Can anyone shed any light or give any ideas about the below issue for my brother?

Car = 306 DTurbo Rear drum brakes.

He's got free play in what feels like the rear wheel bearing, theres no movement in the beam (so he knows it's not that) however he's replaced the wheel bearing and the drum brake because it had 'Ovalled' however the free play is still there. Now the question is, could it be a worn stub pin (if so can they be replaced - and how) and is it something common to have problems (maybe if it hasn't been greased previously???) The hub nut is tight and has been punched into the notch on the pin but the free play is quite alarming!!

Smile

The wife's 306 was like this when I replaced the bearings a few years ago, I was alarmed at it at first but there ok once the car is on the ground, the movement has not got any worse over the years and it has passed several Mot's like this so I think it's ok, (or maybe not Whistle awaits other answers), my Peugeot 505 is also like this and passes Mot's no problem

Stub pin shouldn't really wear, the bearings have internal races.
Got the proper size washers on yes?

Shouldn't be any play there No
