What's the best way to remove the sleeve on the handbrake lever without damaging it? As I need to remove the centre console.

Twist and yank normally, although you can remove the centre console and strecth it round in situ.

Push outwards with your fingers either side when sliding it over.

Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm it then pull it off.

By warming it up, you will have to bond it on again.

To save the hassle, wrap some masking tape round the sleeve and slide it over that to prevent damaging it.

No glue on these, just a push fit.

From experience, once removed like that, they are never as tight when they go back

I know you don't want to damage it but when I did mine I got the nail remover end of a hammer onto the underside of it and yanked at it like it was going out of fashion. Once it started to move I gave it the old twist and yank as thugpuggin says and it eventually slid off.

I managed not to damage mine even with severely losing my patience with it and contemplating cutting the bloody thing off, but obviously I can't guarantee it wont happen to yours.

Laugh my ass off at all these f*cking suggestions

just rip it upwards as you twist it back and forth and it comes off in no time. try not to put your hand through the dashboard though
