Is it possible to set the alarm, if the buttons on the keyfob dont work?

2 GTi6s, none of 3 keyfobs work LOL but is there a way I can test the alarm to see if it works?

Want to test the sirens, and also the ultrasonic sensors.

Am I right in saying the big button locks the car, and the small one deadlocks it and sets the alarm?

Been a while since I have had a decent working one Whistle

On a phase 1 or 2 the big button locks and unlocks and the small button deadlocks.

On a phase 3 the big button locks and a second press deadlocks and the small button unlocks.

The arm and disarm signals for the alarm come from the lock and unlock actions from the fob. There's a manual override for disarming but you can't set the alarm without the fob.

Both phase 2. So if I can get the big button to work once in 1000 times, that big button alone will activate the alarm and ultrasonics?

If that's the case, I will keep trying until it works, and then fit the siren and ultrasonics from the car with a completely dead keyfob and missing button to the car that locks once in a blue moon to test it.

    Cheers Rich

No - small button deadlocks and sets alarm. You need to press this within a few seconds of locking the car.

the alarm sets regardless of 'small button deadlock'

as far as i'm aware the 'lock' (any fashion) activates the alarm unless you unplug the control box

Someone do me a favour and leave the window open, lock the car with the big button and pop your arm in and see if it sets the alarm off LOL

Otherwise I will be butchering a good fob out of several I have for possibly no benefit if the tempermental big button will suffice after 1000 fencing style press and aims.

With phase 2 if you lock the car and hold the key in the locked position for a few seconds it will deadlock. Doesnt this arm the alarm?
