Could someone please list the small parts that I might overlook, for example core plugs and various seals, that are worth replacing while its in bits?
Cheers

Will be removing the 6s engine and stripping it down before rebuilding in the near future, so I want to make sure I have all the necessary bits and pieces before I start.Could someone please list the small parts that I might overlook, for example core plugs and various seals, that are worth replacing while its in bits? Cheers ________________________________________ Team 'unintentional rat look' |

Get the full pug gasket set which contains everything seal wise you need bar the head gasket.I've never bothered changing the core plugs. Then you'll want; head bolts + washers Main bearings Big end bearings Possibly thrust bearings Piston rings Cambelt kit Waterpump Thermostat Throttle body gasket Rtv/silicone A couple of oil filters Oil for rebuild + oil for running in Any bolts/nuts/clips etc you break when stripping the engine. Make sure your fully tooled up for the job. You'll want a decent torque wrench and piston ring compressors as well as the normal tools. It will be worth getting a tube of Graghogen to coat the bearings when you put that together |

I'm not sure if you get valve stem seals in the kit or not, so check that.Don't forget the machining work either. You'll want to get the block and head faces skimmed and the bores re-honed. Oh, and get the flywheel re-faced too. ________________________________________ Rich |

Ah ok, I didn't realise you were boring out and changing pistons.Unless you plan to fit the engine with the billet flywheel I'd get the standard one re-faced anyway. It won't cost much and I'd be annoyed driving a car with a nice rebuilt engine with a juddery clutch pedal! ________________________________________ Rich |
