In all honesty, what kinds of things are you expecting people to suggest? It's not a particularly good engine to start with, it's an 8v, and you've listed all the major options anyway.

Seriously you can buy a '6 nowadays for less than it'd cost you to change the management and get a remap.

i would love to buy a 6 so much, the only thing that is putting me off is the body work that has been done to my car is done so high a standard and it gets a lot of attention, if i was to sell it any idea what i should ask? obv its the xsi 8v l reg done 84k miles with full body kit and a year MOT, and had thousands spent on it with full service history since it was new,

cheers if anyone knows

if its that mint and you really want to keep it drop a gti6 engine into it.

although as said above you can pick up a gti6 for 1k easily now, sell yours and the difference won't be much.

straight swap wiring and fitting side.. If you want to use the 6 speed box you will need to swap the steering rack over to a gti-6 one and also make a hole for the reverse cable.

suspension / brakes will need to be uprated to gti-6 ones or higher.

You'll probably want different suspension at the front as the '6 engine is heavier than the XSI, but those brakes are more than good enough.

Except the pads Wink

I agree. I had an xsi and didn't bother putting money into it. So bought me a 6 and I'm very happy.

its the usual drivel posted by alot of people.
half of them havent even used them, just read things on forums.

ive got them in the mondeo right now and they are ace, stop all 1500kgs in an instant.
maybie the old compounds had issues but the new ones are great.

This years compound are fairly good tbh.

Last years needed some heat and never had much bite, missing the point of a road pad really.
Still wouldn't buy greens though, NDX are a better road pad imo.
