Hi, I've done a search but I can't find out what the best size trumpet is to use for an air intake mounted where the foglight is, or how people mount them in the foglight hole.I'll be looking to make a similar setup to Jokers clicky , but with the air feed going direct to the foglight. cheers guys, Ed ________________________________________ team: Stealth |

that's how mines setup,I'd go 76mm trumpet and try keep the ducting induction vents all about this size, 76mm is the size of your throttle body anything smaller may restrict your air flow a little, ________________________________________ Proud Member of the ASTOR Owners Club |

I used these Cerlik they have a ducting shop not far from me, i'm sure if you ask them they'll have one in black for the bottom of my viper to the fog I used,.. cerlick no2 then after lots of pushing shoving shouting and swearing managed to just secure an adjustable o ring clamp thingy around the ducting and tightened onto the trumpet ________________________________________ Proud Member of the ASTOR Owners Club |

Gnrlee is the air intake pipe a 90 degree elbow? Plus did you have to cut it to size? One more question is that I have a green induction kit fitted to my standard intake pipe so will the 76mm pipe fit ok to my green cone filter?________________________________________ 1997 Black Phase 1 306 GTI 6 |

yeah it's a 90 Degree 76mm alloy pipe,it should pop on the end of the pipe without too much pressure, it's not necessary but I did trim mine a little just to raise the Viper up as high as possible to try and keep the intake pipe from catching speed bumps, ________________________________________ Proud Member of the ASTOR Owners Club |

IMO the best way to feed your car with air is to keep it the way pug intended it to be and then just adapt it I run the standard box and cold feed set up with a green cotton replacement filter (dry) without that terrible oily stuff filters come with. I then welded a a stainless sleeve into the top of the airbox which meets the snorkel pipe. This makes it completely airtight to the point that you can feel it drawing air even on idle. I also removed the smaller resonator box that sits to the side of the main airbox and put a bung on to cover the hole. The last thing left to do is cut a rectangle out of the snorkel just above the grill which will force the air in as you drive. Hope this helps I find it really works ________________________________________ Team Nile 6Team: 40.2 MPG 5 x a 306 owner! currently abusing type r's in a town near you ™ I truely live for the 306 ® Build date: 29th October 1997 Wednesday's car midweek madness |

^^^That's similar to mine except i use a k&n replacment filter and haven't modded the snorkel. It does have the resonator removed and welded up. It works much better than having an open filter set up. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Why spoil it with a pooey induction kit ________________________________________ Team Nile 6Team: 40.2 MPG 5 x a 306 owner! currently abusing type r's in a town near you ™ I truely live for the 306 ® Build date: 29th October 1997 Wednesday's car midweek madness |

Pretty sure it must have had a (beneficial) purpose? |

Got to say was looking to sort out the induction on mine as car is totally standard at the mo and was planning to take out a fog but like the idea of just adapting whats there now, is there a noise change like when fitting a K&N induction kit or does it sound pretty much the same as standard ________________________________________ Proud Member Of Team Astor |

It's just not a low booming sound like an induction kit. I personally hate the sound of open induction kits. Induction kits on the whole are pointless and do nothing other than drink more fuel, suck in warm air and sound terrible. The above mentioned costs nothing to do and you can do it yourself. The only thing you need to really change is the filter for a cotton replacement. Other than that the only induction kits worth anything are the viper ones which are enclosed and have a good cold feed supplied. ________________________________________ Team Nile 6Team: 40.2 MPG 5 x a 306 owner! currently abusing type r's in a town near you ™ I truely live for the 306 ® Build date: 29th October 1997 Wednesday's car midweek madness |
