Fitted one of these at the weekend after reading all the hype. Must admit, i'm not sure about it at the moment. It's actually louder than i thought it would be and boomier than i thought it would be on the motorway (actually made my ears ring a bit after a couple of hours) perhaps I'm just a p**sy. My question is, will it quieten down at all once it cokes up? Is it normal for it to sound a fair bit louder after it's fully heated up, say after a 2 hour motorway drive? Checked all joins and there's no blowing. Thanks ________________________________________ "We never have any near misses, we hit them every time!"clicky code for my benefit [ url= http://www.website.com]My link |

Does your car have an interior or harder engine mounts? You'll struggle to get a quieter exhaust. ________________________________________ Ex SC-6Now in a Megane R26 |

yes full interior and standard mounts, just wasn't expecting it to be so grunty on tickover or as boomy on the motorway. I do sort of miss the pure induction note too, which is slightly masked by the exhaust though. Having said that I'll probably love it in a week or so________________________________________ "We never have any near misses, we hit them every time!"clicky code for my benefit [ url= http://www.website.com]My link |

I find they are very quiet. The boxes are massive!but it is stainless after all and isn't baffled so its never going to sound standard. I run mine was a decat and harder engine mounts so regardless of exhaust mines loud on idle. It wont quieten down though thats for sure |

It depends weather you want to be insured or not. If yes, then you need to tell them. Probably wont cost much, depends how old you are and who your with. Just ask them. |

Who are you insured with? My insurance company just stuck an extra 20 quid a year on when I brought the magnex which by the way IS too loud! The jettex exhausts do not quieten down infact I'm fairly sure my mates got a little louder, though only a little and sounds awesome. It would certainly be my choice of exhaust if I could afford to replace it right now... |

Well I quite like it now, only to find out I can't continue my insurance with it! Im with Hastings, my renewal is up in a month so I might end early as I've paid upfront, can anyone recommend a cheap Insurer that will not rape me for having a 'performance' exhaust. My speeding was 40 in a 30 btw, no schools nearby and it's ridiculous because it goes from 50 to 30 to 50 in a very short space of time________________________________________ "We never have any near misses, we hit them every time!"clicky code for my benefit [ url= http://www.website.com]My link |

When I told my insurance company about my Jetex, they said I could put it down as "Exterior Decorative Changes", as it was not going to add much in the way of performance on a standard engine.BTW, if you think a Jetex system is loud, your head would probably explode if you ever fitted a Magnex system! |

yeah true, i think it's ok now, but i can still feel the effect of a couple of hours driving on the motorway on my ears. Can't believe they are making such a fuss about a silly exhaust tbh, it's not like i've supercharged it, and for the sake of charging me £20 or so a year i'm now going to have to leave them. Woman on the phone was like "can you phone jetex and ask them if it's performance enhancing, if they say yes then we can't insure you, if they say no we can" Is that the way they decide in a claim situation then?! Might make a friend at jetex, seems like the best idea!________________________________________ "We never have any near misses, we hit them every time!"clicky code for my benefit [ url= http://www.website.com]My link |

If your car is standard, then I can honestly say that I doubt it will add much in the way of an increase in performance. I know mine certainly didn't. Hence why my insurance company said I could put it down as a decorative change rather than a performance one. It will probably be a different matter if I ever get round to S'Charging it, but for now I'm happy and so is the insurance company. |

just wish my insurance company saw it that way. I tried to explain that it's not made any noticeable difference to the performance but the woman, who was clearly new, just kept saying that if jetex said it was performance enhancing then they couldnt insure me anymore. I don't really know where that leaves me tbh, i cant be arsed to change insurance for the sake of an exhaust. I mean i cant really get away from the fact that the company is "jetex performance exhausts" can i...________________________________________ "We never have any near misses, we hit them every time!"clicky code for my benefit [ url= http://www.website.com]My link |

bo***cks to it, I'm gonna sell the jetex, slap the OEM exhaust back on and maybe get a forced induction on instead. This means I've got a week old jetex for sale £250 collected or a swap with a bmc or viper Plus some cash________________________________________ "We never have any near misses, we hit them every time!"clicky code for my benefit [ url= http://www.website.com]My link |

Before you do that try the modded insurers, flus greenlight brentacre Chris Knott etc.An induction kit would do the same to your insurance anyway. ________________________________________ Ex SC-6Now in a Megane R26 |

I disagree my old exhaust was a custom longlife and it was loud, but not loud in the sense of the Jetex. I have been in a car with a Jetex and it is just a deep constant not all the time that doesnt change much. I have to admit i was not a fan. ________________________________________ Previous china gti6 and Rallye owner. Now a proud Astor Gti 6 owner. Missing he BMW already... |
