Hi just in the process of stripping my 6 out to use as a trackday car, I've seen what a nightmare removing the sound proofing under the front seats is and was just wondering how much weight you lose and is it worth it, thanks |

It's not a nightmare at all.Just heat 6" square patches up with a blow torch until it just starts to bubble, then scrape off with a wide scraper. It'll come off in great big lumps. Just be aware brake lines run under the pax side, and fuel lines under the the drivers. Pop them out their clips and wedge a thick hammer shaft in to keep them out the way! Seem to remember I weighed it all as about 7 kilos ________________________________________ Trackday, trackday, trackday |

Once you've removed the majority throw in a load of Tardis or white spirit, will dissolve the remainder back to the metal ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

As said above, the easiest way by far is a gentle warm up with a heat gun, no need to move pipes etc. as you needent get it red hot, and it will come off in lovely long curly strips (oddly satisfying when you perfect the speed/heat) ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. There is another 1Kg of the same crap in the wiper scuttle too.Another vote for the heat gun and scraper method with petrol / white spirit to clean the residue. ________________________________________ Long live the Sigma 6Team Phase 1 supercharged XBL ID: farmer uk1 |
