Hi,

Just wondered if you could point me in right direction here. After a few miles of spirited driving today the 6, it started to cut out at junctions.

Coming to a juction, slowing down, going through the gears....once in first and stopping, the revs will drop to around 500 revs...sometimes itll cut out, sometimes it'll coax itself back to idle speed.

Only does this when warm and after a spirited drive.

Any ideas?

Cheers Dec

Sounds like icv or lambda sensor. Tried disconnecting the battery for 20mins to do an ecu reset? Did you let the engine get to temp before spirited driving?
L_e_cook - hi your local to me im in norwich.

Cheers guys.....

L_e_cook.....read your thread but its not hunting just occasional drop of revs.

Car was wel up to temp after doing 80 or so miles of motorway driving. it did happen a few months back but put it down to very low fuel.

Ill try an ECU reset in the morning, if that dont work, think its time to pull in a few favours from a mate who can point me in the right direction of a diagnostic session.

Mine does this; I had it on the diagnostic tool at Lynx last weekend; no faults at all, so I can only assume its a tps or icv thats not throwing any faults?

Vacuum leak somewhere I would say. Have you checked all your pipes?

Your Idle control valve most likely needs cleaning. Take it out clean with carb cleaner and fit. Couple that with an ECU reset and it should be ok.

If its still stalling, see if the ICV pipe has come away from the inlet pipe (a common problem) as this will let unfiltered air into the engine causing it to be unstable when changing through the gears.

Had a good look over it at the weekend, can't find any pipes that are damaged or dislodged. Got it on a diagnostics kit, came up with lambda and map sensor fault codes.
Checked sensors for voltage change, all were fine except from Intake Air Temp.....came up reading -31F.
I'll clean ICV for good measure, and order a new temp sensor, fingers crossed.

Cheers guys
