Evening all,

This may have been covered, but I haven't managed to find anything covering all the bases my car seems to exhibit...

Ok, when I start it from cold, it settles down fine, then seems a little like its dropping a cylinder. The engine rocks a bit too, and I can feel it through the steering wheel.

Seems much better when idling when warm.

When decelerating from 3k down in almost any gear it seems like its dropping a cylinder again; it shaked foward and backwards...

Engine is totally stock, just ticked over 100k, just had a service with oil and air filters, ngk iridiumzzz spark plugs and millers fully synth 10w 40 oil.

Please bear with me, I'm very new with petrol engines, even though I've lusted after a '6 since I first began to live for the 306 4years ago Razz

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I had thought this, luckily I live less than a mile form Lynx, and have already been in contact with Rich W. He confirmed what you said; they usually just go, rather than deteriorating over time.

I think I'll be getting the faults read over the weekend anyway.

I was thinking ICV, Coil pack or MAF sensor. Cant think what else it could be besides possibly the TPS..

Any thoughts/opinions befor ei fork out for a diagnostics test this weekend would be much appreciated!!!

Define Juicy? I get around 28-30 mpg on the way to work, but I feel this is deserved.... Ninja:

juicy as in 25 miles for ¼ a tank!

check your coil packs for cracks. that can make them fail intermittant.

Nah, its no way near that bad, or I'd have had to sell it before finding out the problem!! lol

On a separate note, I went to uni down in Falmouth (camborne school of mines if you know it?!) So jealous, wish i was back there now. Just such a great pace of life, and so good to be by the sea Smile

i had my one of my coil packs go not long ago, and it was intermittant which also made me think it was somthing else. Just came out of the shop one day, started the car and it was missing, then went home when i came out and started it again it was fine, this kept happening on and off for a few days, how i found for defo it was the coil was to first find which cylinder it was missing on, then i swapped that coil with another cylinder and found the miss had changed to that cylinder also! Got a new coil and alls fine since Smile

Thing is I'm almost certain its not down on power at all.

@Swifty lol, yes I'm certain, i trust Lynx Engineering more than any other garage... Razz

Was it always missing or just when cold when the coilpack went monk? Mine seems to do it fairly bad when cold but then its not nearly as noticeable when warm...

Right Update on this:

I got it on the diagnostics reader at Lynx over the weekend, the lambda sensor is fubard, so its defualting to a generic fuelling setting on the ecu and thus deliberately overfuelling a bit to prevent it running lean and destroying the engine.

Would it running a bit rich becasue the lambda is gone present the symptoms I had described? Or should I be looking at the coil packs too...

Also, will i damage the engine if i drive it as it is... pretty nub-ish question I know, but I'm new to these engines...
