Hi, pick my 205GTi6 up at weekend, everything seemed fine besides the gear stick did a weird rattle from side to side thing. I'm not sure if it’s bumps in the road related, but it’s like the frequency keeps it going. At one stage it banged from left to right for about 5 seconds. I even stopped to check if I had a loose wheel. Any thoughts what this might be? Please! ________________________________________ 205 GTi6 |

Under load / hard acceleration? Usually a driveshaft on the way out causes that.________________________________________ Seat Leon Cupra FR / 306 GTI6 / Breaking 205 GTI6 / Caterham 7 / Mercedes Sprinter 311CDI LWB Sold: Fisher Fury - Laguna DCI Estate - P1 306 XSI - E30 BMW 325i Baur Convertible - Daihatsu Fourtack - Suzuki GSXR600 - 205 Rallye |

Also do you know if it will cause damage to anything else if it does go? Or am I ok to drive it til it brakes? Nice pic BTW. I had to sell my Tiger R6 on TB's to free up some till. Loving this little 205 though! It's got a roof and everything! Just got back from a little test hoon, and it certainly puts a smile on the face! ________________________________________ 205 GTi6 |

Can't remember tbh it's been a while since i had the car or issues. But I remember when i used to shag driveshafts on my 205GTI6 the gearstick would do that. Will probably put a bit more strain on engine mounts (depending which ones they are and how you drive it) but otherwise can't see it causing too much of a problem. Hell i did 15 odd laps at Cadwell after one of my driveshafts shat a brick.________________________________________ Seat Leon Cupra FR / 306 GTI6 / Breaking 205 GTI6 / Caterham 7 / Mercedes Sprinter 311CDI LWB Sold: Fisher Fury - Laguna DCI Estate - P1 306 XSI - E30 BMW 325i Baur Convertible - Daihatsu Fourtack - Suzuki GSXR600 - 205 Rallye |

usually the inner CV if the gearstick does a dance, worn intermediate bearing tends to just cause a rumbling noise.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Cheers Guys! I'll look into all thatrallyeash wrote: melksham motorspares do service exchange driveshafts for around £50 from memory. had some 309 ones done a couple of years ago. i actually wanted to change my front end to 309 setup so ordered 309 gti shafts and gave back the old 205 ones Sounds like a plan. Are the 309 ones stronger? And is it a straight swap or does it need extra fettling? ________________________________________ 205 GTi6 |

no, but there longer, you need them if fitting 309 wishbones. a good gain as the track is approx 20mm wider and a simple wishbone and drivesahft swap.________________________________________ 230 hp 2.1 16v XU 205 rallye on jenveys Project thread here309 3dr K20 Type R |
