im currently running R888's as my dry track setup but looking to get a spare set of rims so i can have a wet setup also, i know most people just use normall road tyres when wet but i don't think theres no advantage over R888's unless there is standing water.

By the way the 205's running 185 55 R14 R888's at the minute.
looked at the Toyo R1R as they have a very good review and handle the wet better but go off earlier then R888's so perfect for the wet. only problem being they don't come in 14"

any other recomendations?

Yeah R888 are fine in the wet imo unless it's standing water like you said.

Buy a set of second hand wets if you can get hold of some in 14".You shouldn't pay more than £30 each and if you've never driven on wets before you wont believe how much grip they offer.

this crossed my mind but surely half the problem is the compound and not being able to get heat into them?

where can i get some wets from? think this is ideally what im after as ill drive the car there on R888's or will be trailered so road legal doesnt matter to much

looked at the AD08's, reviews don't say there very good in the wet but are i the dry

You can get supersoft 888's which might be ok? The other tyre I have heard is good but never used is Uniroyal Rainsport.

they look good, come in 195/45R14 have a wet rating on one review site of 94% rather than normal trackday tyres which are between 50 and 80%.
there also only £45 a tyre! might do some more research into them, thanks mate

I read some reviews on these tyres before buying and honestly still didn't expect them to be as they are!

the dry grip is very good

the wet grip was unbelievable

i have them fitted all round on a 170bhp 306 gti-6 and barely get any wheel spin in the wet nevermind the dry!

only down side i have found is the wear, my fronts have lasted about 6k miles, im guessing this is due to my driving style, i just love country roads! the rears however are perfectly fine!

however, i am currently paying for another pair as i write this!

I think they get a lot of their wet grip from been a fairly soft compound, hence they don't last that long in the dry. Ideal for what you want them for though.

as you say ideal for what im after, 10mm wider and 5% less sidewall can't be a bad thing either. at half the price of R888's i think there worth a punt

i use competition dunlop wets and trust me,

you wont go near a dry tyre or road tyre ever again in the wet Big grin

not cheap at 180 a corner though, but i love mine and thankfully have a few spares (myself only)

oh just seen at the top, t1r's are absolute fooking pants in the wet

i got my wets from various places matey, website's mainly

14" seems to be a odd size for motorsport tyres, 13" and 15" seem to be the popular size

Rainsports are good, but Pilot Exalto 2s are better in the wet and a fair bit lighter too.

Dunlop wets are supposed to be amazing in the wet, but aren't cheap even if you are running 17"x9" like the current touring cars.

No rally-based wet tarmac tyres at all..?

on you tube i have some vids of me around come,

in 7 minutes i lap all the cars on track, which includes, skylines, exiges, pugs, evo's and various other cars,

more grip than you think they will give

I have a set of the dunlop competition wets as spiky uses and they are immense in the wet, did buy a set of t1r's for wet tyres and were shocking, they now live on the wife's ford puma

perfect for 306 and 205

i run 185/580/15's but i have 3 200's too so might run 200's on front and 185's on rear,

as i have a wider beam
