Right i know what your thinking use the search button which i did, trouble is almost none of you guys run a turbo 6.

What oil would be best, mainly weekend blast and trackdays, i know it will prob be the same as all other engines but it might be different.

Am running a 19 row oil cooler as well and takes forever to heat up, saying that do i need thinner oil?

SC doesn't use the engine's oil supply though does it LOL

get a thermostat on that oil cooler, maybe a smaller one unless at the peak of summer you have issues keeping the heat down.

what oil do you run now?

All ready have thermostat on the cooler, i am running 10w 40 semi syn, it seems to do the job fine was just wondering if there is anything better.

My main concern is it takes ages to warm the oil up to 80 90, normally sits around 70c which i know is not very good.

i thoguht that the way the thermostatic sandwhich plate works is that when the oil gets hot it then supplys it to the cooler to cool it down. may be compleatly wrong so im prepared to be a ripping, but it seams right in my mind.

Sounds like you need a higher temperature 'stat on the sandwich plate. Any idea what temperature yours opens?

I think 80c, today it stayed around the 90c oil temp but i was going flatout, makes you realise stepping from a standard xsara vts to a stripped out turbo how bloody quick it is lol

I'd use a good fully synth that mentions turboed cars somewhere. I use Silkolene Pro-S, I have a friend who works in rallying and they use Silkolene Pro-R on their rally imprezas so I assume that that would be fine and it is a sensible price too.

I chose Pro-S because it is made in 10W50 and I wanted to keep the viscosity as close to standard as possible. Pro-R is made in 15W50 which should be ok.

I run Pro S 5w/40 and have been for a while,

it's a rather good oil and works out a little cheaper because it comes in 5l bottles rather than the gay 4l or american gallon bottles.

Ester based stock synthetic oil is the best stuff you can buy so you could use:
Redline
Motul 300v
Gulf Competition

as well as the Fuchs, but there really isn't any difference between them.

15w/50 pro r is fine for a weekend car, but in the every car it is probebly a little too thick and could potencaily make cold starts a barsteward... 5w/40 pro s would be a good oil for the DD Smile

That's what I use in mine. I recommended Pro-R because it has been proven on turboed rally cars.

I doubt you would have cold start issues though I was running 20W50 for 9k because it was waht RP lynx put in it.

XPR is 20w50.

My car seems to like the 10W50 Pro-S it isn't using any at the moment which is a good thing.
