As title, can anyone shed some light on how I remove the upper mount.

it should unscrew mate

unless the base has broken away

Use a big screwdriver and a hammer on the castellations round the outside of the mount, you should just be able to keep tapping it around anti-clockwise till it unscrews, unless as stated above that the nut has siezed and sheared off underneath.
