So, had a lovely Xmas morning spent with the very very nice man from the AA, came off the M4...changed down...foot goes straight to the floor...

conked to a halt at the first set of lights and had a look, the clutch cable had come away from the pedal, loose at the clutch end, but couldn't pull any of the cable through in the footwell. i could get hold of what felt like a plastic thingy on what i assume was the end of the clutch cable, but just couldn't pull it.

anyway, got a tow home, so am looking for anyone that might no what the problem could be...could it just be the cable has come away from he pedal?

Sure the pedal attachment end of the cable is intact and not broken?

tricky to say, as i don't know what it should look like...and crawling around in the footwell just off a motorway at 8am this morning sounded, and turned out to be, pretty rubbish, so didn't really see, just decided to get home and worry about it tomorrow.

if it is broken, is it a whole new cable i need?

turns out it was the pin that connects the clutch lever onto the clutch...must have worked itself loose. one bodged pin later and it's all good.

should have a spring on them to secure it in place, though they usually seize in place, guess its had a clutch in the not too distant past.

yup, any pull clutch BE gearbox should have one, so if you're not averse to scrapyards then you'll find one easy, I doubt they're much from Peugeot either.
