In my experience they last pretty well. They generally have a similar capacity to a standard battery but just in a smaller lighter package. If the cars in daily use it will be fine, if it's stood for long periods of time it would be worthwhile investing in a decent charger.I have a CTEK XS 3600 which apparently 'conditions' the battery. You can just plug it in and leave it which is good and so far has done a good job. ________________________________________ Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 1Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 2 Lap of the 'ring |

An extreme racing 40? It says upto 6 litres race engine, which, given you'd expect it to be a high compression engine would be more than ample. My touring car runs a Varley Red Top 25, which is about twice the size of my old standard engine car's battery which was a red top 700, which was about 25cmx25cmx10cm and weighed about 2kg. There generally fine as long as the car starts quickly. I occasionally have issues with race spark plugs that won't start when cold, then I have to use a booster pack after 4 or 5 attempts. ________________________________________ Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 1Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 2 Lap of the 'ring |

well my engine will be low compression because of the charger. I was just worried about how well they lasted with the car off. |

Have to go with Varley too, Last very well to the extent of not using it for 6 months and starting up the V6 on the button. As with all these things buy cheap and buy twice, Varley's are only made up in Romsey but they don;t deal direct with the Public, It's a huge place that does stacks of Dry Cell Batteries ________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

We're using a 40 on the V10, never seem to have any trouble with them, been on the past 3 buggies and they've never had any issues either, even starting up after spending the weekend sat in the frost in parce ferme. (which used to take a few goes on the old Foucart, cold plugs)________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. Just make sure you run a set of battery leads out to a connector under the car somewhere as you are ditching your door locks are'nt you. If it goes flat you will be locked out and you will never be able to climb through the boot with all that scaffolding in the way now mate. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. To set the record straight everybody. I have a big set of crimpers for heavy duty cable, not for crimping big arses, I think that would make a bit of a mess of the tool...________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. FWIW I have a Powervamp 30 on mine and it's doing fine.I think they're much of a muchness to be honest; these types of batteries are great at providing lots of starting current but less good at coping with small, long term current drains. What swung it for me was that the Varley website talked about avoiding the battery become fully discharged (by keeping it connected while car is parked) as it shortens the lifespan of the unit, whereas Powervamp doesn't have any memory effect and can be recharged fine from any state of charge. Also the Powervamp 30 is used in the Harrier jump jet to start the engines and being a child, I thought that was cool ________________________________________ Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch....Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. Another vote for Powervamp here!I have a PV25 on my lbsc car and it does the job fine. A bit sluggish to start, but I think thats the starter motor tbh. And I know Ash has a Powervamp too, but I dont know what size. His is either the 20 or the 25. As Mike says above, im sure they are all pretty much the same battery with a different sticker on them. ________________________________________ Long live the Sigma 6Team Phase 1 supercharged XBL ID: farmer uk1 |

Batteries are all very much different in the quality of the meterials used, Having delt with vast amounts of the things Yuasa always came up best, But I don;t think they do a dry cell car battery only wet cell ones________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |
