Hello, New to the site. Bought a 306 xsi a few weeks back as a track day car and now looking to improve it. I'm after a bit of help regarding what bits I can salvage from a xsara vts. I may be getting hold of one with head gasket gone. I've also heard of stories on these engines that if the head gasket has been gone for a while, water tends to leak down the head bolts which causes rusting which snaps the head bolts when trying to undo them. Is this true?
Thank you, all help is appreciated.

i wouldnt bother with fannying around with a HG failure. if you only really the engine just buy one with a recent cambelt change etc. theres always a couple in the forsale section.

if you want to buy a complete VTS the torsion bars, gearbox and steering rack are worth having but not a massive amount else.

Gutted. Just missed the auction by £6. Guess I'll have to keep an eye out for the bits. Cheers
