Have you tried searching? Plenty of info already on here, no point doubling it all up for the sake of laziness.________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Yeah I'll be honest that attitude will get you nowhere on this site. People have better things to do with their lives than jump to attention because some random jumps out of nowhere and suddenly needs all the info in the world at nine o'clock at night. You going to go get one tonight off the back of everyone's advice are you? Don't be so arrogant as to expect everyone to do your work for you, we've all got our own lives. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Top right of the screen, Search button. Box comes up, type "short shift" into it. 22 results will come up. Read some of those then come back and tell the class what you've learned. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Oh for f*ck's sake, he's trying isn't he?Quickest option for you is to cut 3" off the top of the gearstick. Cheap and convenient. Although you'll need arms like a gorilla to change gear after that ________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid |

Some people have good and some have bad experiences of these. They can slip if you don't clean the shaft up and do them up tight. ________________________________________ Ex SC-6Now in a Megane R26 |

I've been running the GE one for over six months now and a fair few trackdays, and I've had no trouble with it whatsoever. Just make sure you put it as low down the shaft as you can to shorten the throw as much as possible, and as Smegal says clean up the shaft then do it up really tight, you'll be absolutely fine. Combine it with a set of metal gear linkages and it'll be like having a new gearbox. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

No worries, I think you've had enough abuse for now Someone'll correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's Miles on here who makes and supplies them, and they're very reasonably priced. Rather than having the standard rubber bushes they have metal ones, so the gear change is far more solid. They're certainly not made by GE, and although their communication isn't great I received my shifter within about three days or ordering, I was extremely impressed. With reasonable common sense you can replace them yourself as well if you don't want to pay a garage. It's fiddly but not particularly difficult. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Re the GE shifter!!!!! bought one the other day just had it fitted by a qualified mech and it keeps slipping!!!!!!!! he's telling me that its sub-standard as in the size of the bolt!!!! and he doesnt want to tighten it more as he could snap it with his stare let alone tightening it anymore!!! its left on and im left with instructions just to pop the original back onto the original!!!! and take the actual part into the garage where he can enlarge the hole and but a stronger bolt in!!!! cant get hold of GE again to see what they say! any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! also regarding the metal gear rods I was put off the idea from the guy at GE because he said the they they were not needed on a gti6 and they were gonna cost me some £200 if he were to make me some and advised me to buy some normal ones from peugeot for about £7!!! im really at a loss here ffs!!! the mrs occasionally drives the car but what she gonna do if it slips?????????? grrr________________________________________ Never argue with an idiot because they will bring you down to their level and beat you every time with experience! |

Take it off, get a new nut, clean the shaft with sandpaper then fit again tight. Metal gear rods are also like £45. ________________________________________ Ex SC-6Now in a Megane R26 |
