well lads, my car was nice and quite (well as quite as you can expect from a pug) until a few weeks ago when a creaking noise has come into the passenger side dash, it was very light but is gradually getting louder and more frequent its not the glovebox door and ive checked all the bolts holding the dash in place and there all thight but if i press hard on the dash just below the airbag when driving it stops.. how does the air bag on that side come out as it sounds from around that area, ive checked the dash removal in FAQ but i cant see any instructions on removing the airbag... has anyone else had this problem? Any help or ideas greatly appreciated as its getting really annoying now ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |

Airbag nuts are on the back, accessible from the glovebox space. They're funny triangular nuts iirc.________________________________________ I'm Si btwNight Blue VW Golf GTD Bianca LBSC Rallye - Track/Road Slag Project Thread Sparkling Silver Mini Cooper D - Super Dooper - (The other half's wheels) |

thanks for the quick replies lads def not the glove box because if i open that and even open it and hold it when driving the noise is still there! yeah how is the glove box removed? i opened it and pulled it down past where it stops but the right hand corner of it wont budge and i dont want to pull it too hard incase it breaks! i took out the little screw down the left hand side but it didnt do anything... ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |

My airbag came out by removing the head unit then undoing a nut to the left, then i think you have to pull on a spring loaded pin or something, the airbag should then come out at the head unit side.It might be best to disconnect the battery first incase you possibly set off the airbag. Since i changed my heater matrix my airbag is creaking a bit over small bumps so i'm going to have to sort it out, i can hear it over my exhaust at low revs and it annoys the hell out of me ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

i know yeah i should prob just live with it, but have to try to fix it at least once before i do its definitly from around the airbag anyway so mabey its loose or i could wedge somthing in underneath it!! its just one of those things that i can put up with for a little while and then all of a sudden i just cant listen to it any longer ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |

+1 on the airbag rattle! It just started one day for no apparent reason.I am going to try the method I used on my 205 GTI to stop rattly dash syndrome, which involved wedging small slices of bicycle inner tube between the rattly bits! Worked well, and you couldn't really see them... hopefully that will work |

oecken wrote: oh! my 3" magnex with devil decat and viper always seems to out do the rattles I have decat, custom centre section and 3" magnex back box, it's insanely loud between 2-3k rpm but bearable outside that range Motorways are unbearable after 30 mins if i have 70 on the clock. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |
