Right, so for todays problem?! LOL

Bofore I continue, I know what you are all going to shout at me "USE THE SEARCH BUTTON". I have and it shows little regarding my exact problem. Sad

Last night after driving home I had a handful of stuff to take in the house and due to it p*ssing down with rain I ran out of the car and straight into the house knowing I hadn't locked the car.
When the rain had finally stopped I went outside to get the rest of my bits and lock the car! But nothing, the key wouldn't do anything, lock, unlock etc etc. So I did a bit of searching on the forum and a few said "take it for a spin round the block, it may reset it". Did that, still nowt. Another talked about the button on the side of the steering cloumn, did that. Still nothing. I got the spare keys, still nowt! So I locked it using the key in the door and played around with the fobs for a while but with no joy.

This morning, fully prepared to open the car with the key in the door, I thought I'd try the fob like normal and to my suprise it opened straight away! Weird!

Anyone had this and have found a fault anywhere? It all just a little confusing! Crazy

providing the batteries are fine.... it could well be the drivers door loom (where all the electrics are)

had a similar thing on mine, central locking has a mind of its own, i had no door strap (the bit that stops your door opening too far) because of this, this wires in the door loom split, and would short. it would lock itself / unlock / not lock at all, sometimes i would try and lock it and the locks would just bounce.

either way the wires were repaired, it might not be as i would imagine you would have had other symptoms, but its just a thought Thumbs up

Although the loom leaving the door and entering the car looks intact, who knows what it is like in the door or behind the dash. I will have a closer inspection this weekend, thanks for your help btw. Thumbs up

I am little worried as it stopped working after I drove home in heavy rain. As we all know, water and electrics just don't go!

I had the exact same thing the other day when i parked at tesco's. Locked fine with the fob when i went in but 10 mins later i had to unlock it with the key and have the embarassment of the alarm going off!

Hasnt done it since and it was a sunny dry day then. Slightly worried about the wiring in the doors but thats only a 2 hr job just fidly as f*ck

Have fun Andrew

I know, tell me about it! It's so random! Today it's been fine and if anything better, being that I can open and close it from a greater distance! Regarding the opening and closing using the fob, it is only a vain thing as it has a seprate alarm and manual deadlock so if I have to I can wire it up to the new T1 alarm! Just bloody hassle!

Just noticed you were from Cambridge - I am in you neck of the woods from Thurs until Mon, visiting my better half who is doing her MA. Might see you cruising the streets Smile Saying that mine will be parked up Huntington Road most of the time!
