standard pug o.e gasket is MLS and only £40, not sure why the S16 didn't use one, maybe because its 5 years older in design.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

As others have send, the OEM gasket on the J4RS engine is MLS and about £40.They are not bad, certainly fine for a standard, mildly tuned engine. I can supply our own uprated MLS head gaskets - £85 for the gasket, or £125 with head bolts. They are substantially better than the Peugeot items - better materials, better coatings, individual fire rings / combustion chamber seals etc, and proven to be reliable on engines over 450 BHP. ________________________________________ Contact Details:rich@lynxpowerengineering.co.uk 07732 822546 |

I'd use OE on this occasion. Payen are a reputable manufacture in many circles as I believe are Cometic, although OE is a tried and tested method I guess. That or RichW's gaskets . ________________________________________ Ex Owner of 2000 Phase 3 306 GTi 6 China Blue - You shall be missed1974 Triumph Stag 1989 Peugeot 205 GTi 1.6 2003 Alfa Romeo 147 JTD Lusso 2005 Mondeo Ghia X 3.0 Estate LPG |

Oops! As I have very limited knowledge with engines, can you tell me why it cant be reused? For other paper gaskets I could understand. But an uprated gasket with f*ck all use, thought it would be ok? Shows how much I know though ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Shows how much I know though You should never re-use any HG When torqued down, the HG will form to the exact profile required to seal between the head / block. I'm talking on a tiny scale here - i.e. the elastomer coating filling the microscopic troughs in the block / head. Re-using a gasket will never create a proper seal. Using a new gasket is the only way to guarantee a good seal. ________________________________________ Contact Details:rich@lynxpowerengineering.co.uk 07732 822546 |
