I'm pretty heartset on an omp 10point bolt in cage (AB/105P/130) for my 306 and plan on ordering one this month. Its the best comprimise in my eyes for safety, looks and price..... the thing is know matter how much I look it's hard to see exactly how well they fit, where the mounting points are and wheres cheapest to buy one from. I know theres gotta be people on this site who know these answers and i'd be incredibly grateful for any help.

Dont wanna be making a huge mistake for lack of asking!!

Thanks in advance, Carl Big grin

I have one in mine, I bought it from yb racing on eBay, it takes a bit of fiddling to fit I won't lie to you mine was in and out more times than I care to remember, on the plus side it does not require the dash cutting. It does not fit as well as a safety devices one but with a bit of patience can be made to fit well. Anything else you wanna know just ask! Wink

Thanks jeffers, does that mean the front/a post bars fit infront of the dash like the SD cages? Do the rear bars fit on the floorpan or the wheel arch? Where could I get a safety devices cage from as I cant find a 6pt on theyre website? A picture or 2 of yours would be appreciated but if its too much trouble dont worry.

I can get some pics yeah, when i get a few mins and have the cover off the car i'll take some, maybe tomorrow. Yes the A pillar bars sit in front of the dash like the SD ones, Obtaining a SD 6pt cage will be difficult and costly, IIRC you need to Order 10 for them to make them, and even then it works out at over £600 each! Back to my OMP yes the rear bars attach to the rear arches! HTH! Wink

yup, you need to weld in mounting plates whether it be a full weld in cage or a bolted in one.

So do people actually bolt and then weld or do they just weld it an not bother bolting? Also if its a 2nd hand cage they have to grind the welds out? Tbh then the whole "bolt in cage" is a bit misleading really

You weld mounting plates into you car for it to bolt to.

Ah ok now that makes a bit more sense so would be a plate with studs on it that you weld to the car then the cage feet bolt to them?

If you're smart you weld dome nuts to the plates, they keep moisture out if the threads and interior so you can unbolt the cage easy later without the bolts rusting themselves solid.

Here is a friends Rallye with OMP cage.

http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=106269

I've got the Safety Devices one, and here are a few pictures of the plates.

Which is Homologated by the MSA. You might also want to look at the MSA Blue Book which give guidance on fitting for Motorsport.
