Hi all,
I'am loosing water slowly from my radiator.. roughly 250ml every 600km. I have had the radiator replaced, and tested and the mechanic doesn't know why it is still loosing water. He said the pressure is fine when he tested it.
After driving for a little while and than getting under the bonnet, I can hear a hissing sound as if air & water are able to escape from the radiator cap. Is this normal?
I'am thinking I might need a new cap.. any thoughts? I'am also wondering if i can run some plumbers white tape around the thread of the cap to help stop the release of air or water which may be occuring. Is this a foolish idea?

It is supposed to let out steam.
that's how the caps are supposed to work to keep the right pressure in the cooling system.
