I got into my car to go to work and all my gauges except my temp gauge aren't working. Does anyone know of a common problem or am I going to be head scratching tomorrow? ________________________________________ Ex SC-6Now in a Megane R26 |

That was easy. I pulled the shunt fuse out and left it while I checked all the fuses, put it back in and all was fine.________________________________________ Ex SC-6Now in a Megane R26 |

funny you say this as i had a total dash failure but whilst sat in a traffic jam on the M56 about a month ago. i put my chair back to the furhest position and smashed the corner of the dash near the driver side corner with my heel and it all came back to life i also had dash failure when i shorted my clock out. i 5a fuse which controls the ignition and all sorts had gone. simples ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

my fuel guage done that a few times, it wouldnt rise and then by accident i fixed it by taking out the fuse to check it and when i put it back in it worked ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |

Fecks sake mine is doing exactly this at the minute. Tried the shunt fuse and it's not playing ball.Had each and every fuse out of the box inside the car, including the shunt. Had the battery on and off a few times, only the temp gauge is playing ball. The temp gauge moves off the bottom to somewhere under 70, you can see it move. Oil level and temparature not working. Speedo - stuck at 70, or wherever you push it to. Revs - Stuck at 4500, or wherever you push it to Fuel gauge - stuck at the bottom. Spare set of clocks still the same. Found a loose earth today and changed it but to no joy. Also noticed I have no time on the clock by the cigarette lighter. Haven't electrically checked each fuse, but now you've mentioned it I shall do. Shunt fuse has been out, but nothing seems to die/happen as/when you pull it out and re-insert. Tried waiting a minute, tried ignition on, ignition off etc but nothing seems to happen? Clocks seen working here prior to engine swap: Clocks did this on first start after engine swap: Have I wired something back to front maybe? In that case I would disconnect, clean up and reconnect the two large round multiplugs on the n/s inner wing where the engine loom joins the car loom. Funnily enough I did that yesterday afternoon whilst following the loom, and it all looked healthy! Cleaned for the sake of it and reattached. Welshpug, I shall do that. I'm away again all week so won't be on it till Sunday earliest.
