Thats what I use on my hi comp n/a engine, as you say they are spot on and cheap to replace.

Smegal, for the oil i personally would be changing it at something like a normal interval for a non boosted car, i.e. somewhere between 6k and 10k depending on usage.

I change mine annually regardless of milage (normally about 2 - 3k a year)

I am nearing 9k on my RP oil, and an looking to give it some new oil. I'm just making sure that RP oil doesn't have a long change interval like 12k.

Being fully synthetic it probably does have some silly interval like 15k or possibly even more, but I wouldn't take the risk what with the extra stress the engine is being put under, for the sake of a few quids worth of oil.

All imo of course.
I dont actually run RP oil in my car, but I run Millers CFS competition fully synthetic 10w60 in my car, as does Ash in his cars and its plenty good enough, next best thing to Royal Purple I would say, and its about half the price (£50 for 5L)

Fouling, poor idle, misfires, general unreliability and bad emissions.

Yes, essentially in order to make an engine run as sweetly as possible you need every factor to be correct all of the time. If you have an engine with perfect valve timing, ignition timing, fresh high grade fuel and plenty of air available but the plugs are too cold it won't all work great because one link of the chain isn't doing what it should be in relation to the rest of the system. Wink

Standard parts for the 6 engine arnt bad, it does seem like alot of people try playing with plugs air filters and exhausts when really everything that pug put on the car as standard are very good. The standard 2.0 n/a engine producing 167 bhp is very good i think. Most hatches today dont produce that apart from a honda n/a
