I had always thought that whilst going a bit lower helped with handling, that if you went too low it completely messed it all up. However, speaking to a few people recently, if you are going for a dedicated trackday / racing car, then the lower the better?!?

What do people think is optimium amount to drop a car????

Lower as possible is best - but, only provided you set the entire suspension geometery/spring/damping rates, etc, up with that in mind.
Otherwise you'll just make it handle badly.
