I now have the pads and discs ready to fit, although I'm a bit unsure of the bedding in procedure.

I've always used light brake for the first 100 mile then gradually work them harder but the M1144s seem to squeal, and I don't want to cause this by incorrect bedding in. Now google has returned two different trains of thought.

1.Apply 2-3 Light Applications of the brakes at 30mph down to 0mph then Apply 3-4 Steady Applications of the brakes at 70mph down to 30mph.

2.The ‘bedding in’ procedure for M1144 is the same as any standard material i.e. steady braking for the first 50 miles, avoiding emergency stops

Hmm slightly different...thoughts?

I bedded mine in by doing heavy braking from a considerable figure to nearly stopping and repeating that process a few times.

My seat belt ratchet mechanism has been functionally tested and classed as "serviceable" LOL

Are they squealing all the time, even when you aren't braking? If so check them out. 1144s from a couple of years ago had a problem with the material coming off the backing plate. Probably nothing to do with your problem though Smile

wait till late at night then go out and do
30 > 1mph, 50 > 1mph ,70> 1mph, 100>1mph, then drive normally without using brakes for 10-15 mins to let cool without coming to a stop.

I did 3 steady stops from 30mph to 0
3 moderate stops from 70mph to 30
3 moderate stops from 100mph to 50, then I let them cool completly before using again.
They do however squeal at slow speeds when cold although i'm not convinced this has anything to do with my bedding in procedure and is just a trait of the pads.

I just took it easy for a while, getting a bit of heat into them occasionally by doing light braking dragging them.

Need a few stops to warm them up once they're bedded in, Mine squeal a bit too however i didnt fit the backing pad you get, as i figured it'd just melt anyway Lkaugh

Cheers, used no.1. They feel great, very strong brakes. Only a slight squeal from cold which clears quickly. Smile

Really like them so far, hoping for big things. Only done about 50miles and the change included new HC discs so will do another 50 miles or so before putting some real heat through them.
