I am running a modified 306 GTI6 engine, in a 406 coupe, with xsara VTS electrics.

The car runs fine with the Xsara ECU, but is imobalised with the GTI6 ECU(and key foCool
The engine is modified and the GTI6 ecu has been re-mapped, what are my options.

I want to use the mapped ecu from the GTI6,how do I set it up to read the 306 key, or would I be better having the 306 ECU unlocked( or the map copying to the xsata ECU)

you need to get the 6 ECU unlocked, or have the transponder re-programed to match....

Thanks, am I right in saying that the transponder on the VTS is a completely different "box" and connector to the 6.

is it possible to copy a map from the 6 ecu to the Vts ecu???

Who can unlock the 6 ecu/copy maps. (need the car for next weekend!)

TBH im not sure what is required to change the transponder over, i know that the key chip works with a module on the ignition barrel so if you can get that changed from the 306 onto the VTS and switch the chips over it may work (i believe the transponder is paired to the ECU so if you run the 306 ecu, it would need to be the 306 transponder unit and chip used...)

the only other option would be to get the ECU unlocked (ie. have the transponder system switched off) to allow the mapped ECU to be run....

is the VTS ECU the same as a gti-6 one?

Yes the VTS ecu is the same( well the hardware is)and I have been told that they can be swapped from VTS to 6.
The transponder units are not the same though( the VTS one seams to be part of the alarm system. and not stand alone like the 6)

Is there somewere in the south west that can unlock ecu's quickly( as I ned the car next weekend)
