Are the sensors/rings clear and clean?I've only had this happen occasionally on very hard braking. ________________________________________ Spanner Monkeys Monkey SpannerForum Search Clicky |

hi guys local mechanic looked at this problem today he said when he test drove it that it felt like the rear was braking harder than the front, and then said he cant find why the abs is playing up, but he said he has disconnected it and feels like the front brakes better than rear now, and said dont plug abs back in and happy days is this safe he normally is a good mechanic that i have used before but this is just a cowboys answer is it not, please help |

no air trapped in the system when re-bleeding?mine got air in and has similar symptoms, ABS kicks in when it shouldnt, and not as quickly as it should... ________________________________________ Ex-Black 6 - Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you. |

well the only reason im saying it is because when my system was rebled, realised both brake nipples had snapped so was bled from the lines, caused air to get in now braking is a joke, and ABS is not as it should be,________________________________________ Ex-Black 6 - Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... the rear is braking harder than the back use plenty of wd40 over a couple of days before you remove the nips. ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

If the pedal is vibrating under your foot, it's the ABS activating. If you're not braking hard enough to lock a wheel and it does it, then I would suggest you're suffering from an incorrect sensor air gap or, more likely, a cracked ABS reluctor ring. The cracks only have to be hairline to confuse the ABS when counting pulses. Pull the ABS fuse and test the brakes out then, you'll probably find it brakes as it should (to the point of lock-up). You won't pass an MOT with no ABS though so you need to fix it. ________________________________________ I'm Si btwNight Blue VW Golf GTD Bianca LBSC Rallye - Track/Road Slag Project Thread Sparkling Silver Mini Cooper D - Super Dooper - (The other half's wheels) |
