when i moved the car today i noticed a wet patch from where the front right of the car had been sitting
at first i thought it might be leakin engine oil but the undertray is on an the patch didnt look like the right place for it to leak through that
i then looked through the wheel arch an the bottom of the spring an the cup it sits in were wet

is this likely to be a badly leaking damper?

Possibly brake fluid, or even PAS fluid?

Damper fluid normally smells slightly sweet and it's quite thin.

this was quite thin, didnt give it a good smell though, i've parked the car differently tonight see if another patch appears

i believe the damper was leaking very slightly already an yesterday i was having a spirited drive an sure the car got all four wheels off the ground which wasnt pleasant for the suspension not sure if that has made the situation worse

i thought to begin with it might be leaking from what ever is behind the plastic here

it looks slightly different colour in the pics (looks more red-ish in the pics)
but if it is PAS fluid where is it likely to be coming from?

I'd say that's a REALLY f*cked damper. PAS fluid is really red. There aren't many fluids it can be other than brake fluid.

I'd check your brake fluid level just in case!

PAS fluid is quite similar to damper fluid Wink
Just a lot thicker, so if this is thin and looks similar to PAS fluid....

Probably popped the top shaft seal.
