Right ive done a search and cant determine what my problem could be.

Jumped in the car tonight and instantly noticed that whenever i back off the throttle, the car jerks ever so slightly forward, almost as if its deaccelerating too quickly, i cant figure out from my search whether im having problems with the clutch or lower engine mount?

any help appreciated
Cheers
Dan

Ive got a lower engine mount bush, there seems to be a lot of shit flying about as of how to change these, many people say you need a press and they are a pain to do, and others say they are easy Crazy

So... ive got a new one of these lower engine mount bush's kicking around in the garage, how easy of a job is it to change this bush and is that all i need to do?, im fairly sure whilst Carl had the engine out if he noticed the top mount cradle was cracked he wouldnt leave it damaged

well im changing the exhaust tommorow so will have a look, the job of changing the bush looks fairly easy as it has a metal casing around it, so like the FAQ just cut the old frame out -- bash it through -- slide new one in? and bolt it back up

Most likely will be the bottom one. They can still look ok but be tired enough to move considerably.

Mine used to do this before I got the top mount welded up.

I bought a 2nd hand lower bush mount. Local garage charged me a fiver to press old bush out and pressed a new bush in ready for swapping straight over. Saves a lot of hassle.

If there was a problem with the mounts they would have been changed, has the car only just started doing this?

I had this exact problem several weeks ago and think it's largely been cured by fitting a new lower engine mount. I changed the OEM one for a Powerflex polyurethane item and the difference is very noticeable. Feels like a lot less 'give' (for want of a better description) with throttle inputs resulting in forward motion of the car rather than the engine moving around.

I should add that I'm a bit of a mechanical novice and found the FAQ guide helpful. It took a while to cut through the outer metal casing of the old bush and my advice would be to first off have a decent junior hacksaw where the blade (and numerous spare blades) can be locked into position, and secondly make sure you're cutting straight which is easier said than done. When I say straight, I mean not at an angle as your might when cutting through some 2x4 wood, as in this case, you will start to saw into the mount casing itself - best avoided Wink
