Starting to sway towards this now, possibly, but they're getting pretty rare 2nd hand especially in this colour and I can't be bothered with the hassle of getting a different colour and spraying it. So this one is staying. Unless someone offers me an XSi/S16 one........ Wink

Mini-update: have been quite busy recently so not had much time for the car, but I have managed to chop up a spare offcut of carbon fibre sheet I had kicking around to fill the hole in my lower dash and wire up a new 12v socket (yes I did get the idea from Owain's track car project thread!). I used the original dash piece as a template, then cut around with a jig-saw, rounded the corners with a bit of sandpaper, and the result:

And even had enough left to make a new surround for my gauges in the headunit slot, as the old black sticky-backed plastic effort was starting to look tatty and had bubbles in it.

This week fitted a sunstrip- don't normally like these but is necessary since I have no sun visors. Didn't make it too deep as I am quite tall anyway. Didn't do the best job fitting it as it's probably easier to have a helper on hand to assist manoevering it into position, and was a bugger to trim as I have a Ph1 windscreen with a rubber surround. Doesn't look too offensive:

Random shot!

Long overdue update!
Decided I needed to fit bonnet pins because since the roll cage went in last year the bonnet release catch has been difficult to use, largely because it is no longer attached to anything

So after purchasing some Aerocatches from Ebay with some money that Santa had brought me last year, here goes.....

Hmmm, maybe ought to clean it now.....

Update: Bumper project!

Since just about everyone commenting on this project has suggested that the car would look better with a Ph1 'sport' spec front bumper I have been on the lookout for a second-hand one that did not cost the earth to have posted, and preferably in the right colour. Not happening! So when Mr Pellowe decided to facelift his Ph1 I happily acquired his cast-offs for the princely sum of £10 as the bumper was 'not in the best of condition'
Erm, I agree:
crack

scuffs

And obviously since anything owned previously by Mr Pellowe was never going to be in the right colour, I may as well fix it up first then spray it.

So after a bit of Dremel work:

then a slap of fibreglass and resin and a good sand, bye-bye crack

Little bit of filler on those scuffs and it'll soon be ready for paint, if we have enough dry days left this year......

In between waiting for coats of primer and paint to dry I finally got round to mounting the 1.4 litre screenwash tank that I got last Christmas. Decided to locate it up front for 2 reasons: (1) It's quite small so I can easily see when it needs topping up, (2) the heat coming through the exhaust tunnel will stop it freezing/ help it thaw out quickly in the Scottish winter.

And fitted a set of Peugeot Partner centre caps that I got off Ebay

Is there any way of fitting a low output heater to the screenwash bottle? Problem's more likely to be frozen lines anyway, bottle might be warm ish there but lines would still freeze to buggery Laugh

1:1 ratio concentrate ftw

Possibly. True that the lines will always freeze up first, but at least they'll thaw quicker with warm fluid in the system. Last winter I had a bottle of top-up screenwash inside the car and it froze solid!

Bloody love a Phase 1.

Double win with the washer bottle, I've often been stuck for somewhere to p*ss when stuck in traffic. I cannot imagine you have that problem, you can just keep emptying yourself into it, then spraying it out over the windscreen when it gets full.

You know when you're driving and the person in front puts their washers on, and some always goes over their car and lands on your windscreen?

Imagine that happening, and you're just like - "does anyone smell p*ss...?"

Good project mate, coming along nicely Smile

Can I ask you thoughts on this...

I wanted to do that to my car, but I have a black box in there in the way. Did you have it? If so, do you know what it does?

Thinking something to do with the immobiliser..

This is it on mine. The bit with the blue sticker on:

And from the underside of the dash, where the unit in question attaches to:

Er, no idea. They came with the car when it had OZ alloys, but are short enough to use with the steels.
