Is it best to attach the front strut to the wheelbearing hub carrier before putting it on the car or put the spring/damper on first and then the wheelbearing hub carrier after? |

I always stick the carrier on first then the damper in, but it depends on how long your spring compressor are - if they're fairly short it makes the job a right bas**rd, if they're fairly long it's a piece of p*ss.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. I can't work out which damper is left and right ... Do the damper drop link tabs point backwards or forwards in relation to the damper pinch bolt locating tab? I am assuming backwards closer to the ARB? |

Fitting the strut to the car was fairly straight forward.1. Get jack to level of wishbone. 2. Push strut up into locating hole. 3. Screw in 2 Top mount bolts halfway, which gives play for the suspension strut to move out to locate driveshaft. 4. Push in driveshaft 5. Use bar to lever wishbone down to insert ball joints. 6. use bar to lever Anti-roll bar down to fit drop links (car was jacked up/stands on one side). 7. Torque everything up. I used silicone seal on the ABS sensor fitted before the strut went on to prevent it rusting fast. |

What's this 'slow' thing you speak of?Mine are easier to fit - bolt upright to balljoint, bolt driveshaft to hub, let fancy wishbones drop down 4 inches further than standard, slot strut in upright ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. I usually give it a slight smear of grease, stops the disc/wheel corroding on.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. If you are after changing just wheel bearings phillipm knows a good bearing for around £30 which is uprated over the OEM ones. busy me? Not sure if very high temp paint makes a difference to the life of the exhaust ... |

There's a very common double zero class machine bearing the same size as the TU ones, 35 quid + vat each. I think the XU bearings are a bit bigger but they appear to have sized them all from lathe class bearings because there's one for the rear that goes straight in too. Best bet is see what your local bearing shop can offer, that's all I did @ exhaust. You're gonna be really p*ssed off when they salt the roads this winter ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. Are you going to fit the proper GTi 6 tailpipe end? I'm interested in how easy it is to get the chrome tip swapped over without it being obvious when fitted________________________________________ GaryCherry Red GTi 6 |
