Just a quick question. What effect would it have on the running of the enigne if the two breather hoses on the top right hand side of the rocker were blocked? ________________________________________ Peugeot 306 GTi 6BMW 320 td compact M-sport 1967 Mini Cooper 1990 Jaguar XJR 4.0 |

Cool that would be fun to see! what about if there was a partial blockage? could it cause idle/rev faults similar to those from a failing MAP/ICV?________________________________________ Peugeot 306 GTi 6BMW 320 td compact M-sport 1967 Mini Cooper 1990 Jaguar XJR 4.0 |

Highly likely..The rocker breather system is there to do 2 jobs. Remove oil and water from the hot air at the top of the head and secondly to relieve positive crankcase air pressure iirc It also stops backfires into the inlet manifold from igniting crank case gasses, which you really dont want happening! By pulling these gasses from the crankcase it will also prolong the life of your engine oil, which is a nice little bonus On idle it basically sucks the bad vapours out of the engine so if it is partially blocked it will almost definately be causing issues. Scrap the old pipes and stick a catch tank on there, make sure you plumb it in properly though, many people opt to plug the pipe on the inlet mani but this is actually wrong |
