having problems with central locking on my gti 6.. turn the key to lock it and it unlocks itself straight away. i have been removing fuse so can leave it secure in car parks etc at the moment.. i sprayed the mechanisms yesterday with some wd40 just incase one was sticking a wee bit and it worked all night until this morning it has gone back to the way it was.. ive tried more lube and bit cleaning but still not working, could it be a faulty connection, lock etc. what can i test to determin what is causing the problem. any info is gratefullCool

I had the same problem with mine, had to disconnect the wires for the cental locking in the doors in the end just so i could lock my car.

Ive been told it most likely to be the central locking box.

Still aint got mine sorted yet! Big grin

Hope this helps mate.

My boots smoothed so have got my boot on a popper on my rear window washer stalk, so mine wouldnt be that.

If it is the central locking box, there are a few on ebay for about

+1 on that, mine is the reverse, it locks itself (Not so bad) i dont have a check strap on the drivers side, and it is definatly the door loom, wires have split and cause a short. its intermittent and is mostly normal, just sometimes it has a "French" moment, can take the door loom apart, strip the wires and resolder which will sort it.

but as said not had problems with it....

until last week at the parents house, left the engine running, put the windows up then got out to open the garage, the bas**rd locked itself (but obviously doesnt deadlock) so luckily Mr AA Man with his Wedges and inflatable air pockect took about 30 seconds to get in. LOL but the key fob (first time ive had one, thanks to mech repairs!!) locks/deadlocks/unlocks Big grin
