just changed my snapped droplink, such a simple yet hard job, getting those nuts off! Smile

came in a pack of 2 so do you recommend i change the other side or keep it as a spare until one snaps again?

if one if funked the other wont be long behind, never seen one snap myself though, just the BJ's wear out.

It's easier to overtighten the bolts until they shear off and I would definitely change both sides Yes

i always hold the back of the stud on the drop link with mole grips stops it spinning. ive always replaced them in pairs like most things

ive tried that before.. it just span around.. that when the grinder came out... i also hate track rod ends.. as the ones ive had just spin too! another job for the grinder... ahh simples

The end of the thread has a hex slot, 8mm I think ? Put the trolley jack underneath it to take the load and a bar on the key, then release the nut after plenty of WD40. If you're changing 1 side change the other as well, but I would recommend the metal ones instead of the shite plastic items.
If that fails just cut the f*cker off with either angle grinder or hacksaw

no-where near 8mm mate 4mm i tried last week with my mates car and it just rounded off eventually Sad

I was only guessing at 8mm but I put the allen key in and tapped it in with a hammer, came off a treat, however, the other had been rounded by a previous owner so just cut it off

Or get a through socket set and use the through socket ratchet with an allen key attachment on a normal socket. Come undone in seconds and it makes taking struts apart a much easier affair.
