where did you get the D2 kit from? I might be interested in a pair of their topmounts.

ive had a complete nightmare with my D2 coilovers had them fitted, also had a fast road set up with them everything wos hunky dorey for 4 weeks! Then the drivers side coilover devoloped a knocking in the actual strut, so this weekend i have changed back to my old set up standard shocks with tenzo springs, so had to have another tracking session with the steering along with a new track rod end , not a happy bunny this set up has nearly cost me £1000,. There are sending me two brand new front coilovers for the agro and labour that it has caused me so im getting rid and putting my set on ebay when there arrive Sad

Now that doesn't sounds to good Sad

I've checked the web for some reviews etc about D2 coilovers, and most were jap and VW cars that had them on, and they seemed very happy with them.

But tell me Jim, when you buy a set of coilover from D2 you get the coilovers for the front the topmounts.... but do you also get a set of shocks for the rear from them???

I'vebeen thinking about buying me a set of these as they seem to be very popular in th Netherlands and at a price of 700€ you get more than a KW V1 inoxline that costs about 1000€.

Thanks in advance

hi yes i have a honda civic ep3 type r, i bought the set of ebay for £550 that comes with the front struts coilover which has the top mount on them , with the rear you get two struts with the top mount as these cars have struts on all corners, guess i wos just unlucky with my set as i done my own research on these my self , the early model D2 coilovers had a bad review but the new ones were meant to be much better .

Thanks for the reply Jim!!

But I actually wanted to know if the D2 set for the 6 also comes with rear shocks.

Guess I'll drop a mail at DeSnelleLeuw (The fast lionLOL) in Holland who sell these and ask them what comes in the set.

Thanks again

whooa, update-ish, still havnt got these fitted though, hopefully before long, just got myself another motocross bike so thats taking some time and money at the moment, plus my friend with a set of ramps had been away for a month.

Yes they come with camber adjustable top mounts, and yes they come with rear shocks too.

Just bought me a set of these and should have them all fitted in a week or two. I'll be more than happy
to give some feedback for people who are curious as to how they perform.

They'll be joining the already fitted 30mm arb, solid beam mounts, Richs roller bearings, top and bottom strut braces and the soon to arrive set of Phils droplinksBig grin .

She was feeling a little bit tired of late, so hopefully these new additions will breath new life and driving joy back into her.

Yes mate.

Had them fitted for around 7 wks, when a rather large pothole put paid to the nearside one!!!

Prior to the assault, they had performed satisfactorily. The reason for the performance only being rated as satisfactory, is that even on the softest setting, the ride is still hard and could get quite bumpy on the uneven road surfaces
that we suffer in Britain.

I'd say that they make a better track coilover, which is what they're marketed as, than one that can be duel use i.e track/fast road.

One thing that was noticeable, was even on the terrible roads i drove on, there was no crashing and banging of the units.

I'll be getting the damaged unit repaired during the next couple of wks and also have it and the other unit revalved, which should hopefully reduce the hardness of the ride.

how much are they for the 306 and would they re-valve them?

have to say I've been in two very different AST equipped road cars (both the same Sportline 1 kits) and they drive very nicely, very much a firm near o.e feel on both cars that doesn't give you a reminder that you're running above twice the original spring rate, till you pitch it into a corner Big grin

Just wish I could afford the £800 odd for a kit Doh Sad

They're about £550.

I'm sure that they can be revalved. On the D2 website it states that all coilovers are repairable and serviceable, so i'm hopeful that they can be revalved.

Has to be said its a very different car now with the alignment and anti-lift, Mei. A fair bit stiffer, possibly enough to take the dampers back down a notch. The ride quality is better than it was as standard on the impreza, but slightly worse on the 306. I think the 306 needed stiffer rear springs really to match the front.

The AST impreza kit is £1400+vat, the 306 is £900+vat now iirc.Shock

You might well be able to get them re-valved, LG, then again it might be the spring stiffness rather than the damping that is the issue. I'd say about 225lb would be a good match to the standard rear bars on a road car. 285 was maybe a tad too much for bumpy roads. Softer springs with great damping is the way to go on the road + bigger rear arb.

I originally had them on the hardest setting and it was like being on a pogo stick!LOL

Toned them down by two clicks and still pogo time!
Another two clicks and it quelled alot of the bounciness, so i took it down the last two clicks and it all but quelled the bouncing on bumpy roads.

If the revalving doesn't resolve the bounciness, i'll try some different springs. I'm also hoping to get some 21mm tb's fitted at some stage, maybe this side of Xmas to compliment the 30mm arb. Had it fitted for over 2 years, so about time the tb's were uprated.

Realy sorry to hear that one of your coilovers is allready f*cked Sad
You guys seem to have quite some issues with the quality of your roads. I already read a few Fing Pothole threads :S

But hey back to the topic, I can say that we are pretty fortunated in Luxemburg as the roads over here are very good. Would you consider the setup as uncomfortable on the softest setting? If i'm right there are 36 stiffness levels on the setup, correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes there maybe a few potholes, but really you ought to come and try some them some time. There aren't many things more fun or technical to drive well than a good British B road.
