We finally made some progress on the car! What a day...
With the help of a few friends, we managed to get the head off the car. What a lovely suprise, after spending 2 hours trying to get the bloody exhaust manifold out!
The head (although I have a replacement):
If anyone is interested in the head, once I've salvaged any bits that I may need I'll likely give it away to avoid collecting crap. I guess there might be some value in the cams...
The piston:
The shock, the horror, when we finally got the head off! A massive hole, I'm sure I'm gunna loose a few PSI of compression through there!
The cylinder wall:
This is going to be a real pain. A small piece of metal must of been caught by the piston ring, causing a fairly nasty score. This thing is probably going to use a drop of oil, bye bye emissions!
The old head gasket:
This should show the difficulty we had removing the head!
What a shame, eh? I thought it was just going to be dented piston crowns, but lo and behold it's a pistons out job! I'll have to call on the old man's experience to avoid damaging it any further when fitting new pistons.
