Is it just the charged 6s that have had valeo clutches let go on the rivets? How soon have they failed? Just i don't fancy doing the job twice |

I went through 2 of these f*ckers with the same outcome.I went for a Sachs unit which actually comes with a Valeo clutch in the box, however its from a different batch. |

never had one go, fitted loads now. On removal of gti6 clucthes you can tell the cars that have had been driven hard by the state of the friction disk springs, most of the time i find them all loose and rattling around in the disk |

Tend to get that a lot with sprung discs, they don't like large shock loads. When we left the stock VW clutch in the buggy whilst waiting for the sintered one to arrive, we took it for a spin to try it out, and it spat all 8 springs straight out on the first big bump. ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. My own Rallye had one that failed, nightmare having to do the job twice through no fault of your own. Also had two or three customers cars back for the same fault, i got the replacement clutchs for free but had to suck it up and cover the labour (not nice) Have since bought the clutchs and they have now been modified, its where they are rivetted together the part that the rivit goes into splits open. I would expect all of the dud batch have been sold by now. I've now got a replacement and it is definitely different to the dud one. The easiest to spot difference on mine is the purple springs on the dud clutch are aqua coloured on the replacement. Friction material is a different colour too. |

I am trying to determine if this is what my problem is. I was driving around all morning and it was fine. Then i struggled for 1st and 2nd. It wont go in reverse or 5th and 6th but works fine on 3rd & 4th. is this something that everyone else has experinced when the pressure plate went? ________________________________________ Previous china gti6 and Rallye owner. Now a proud Astor Gti 6 owner. Hi guys,I'm breaking my astor, as some of you may have spotted, and have put the clutch up for sale as it has done only 1000 miles. However, when installing it was brought to my attention I may have one from the dud Valeo batch; I fit it anyway as I wanted the bloody car on the road! Here's a picture: From the remarks above I'm correct in assuming that this is a dud one? (Purple springs). If it is, it's not going to be sold. Any enlightenment is much appreciated...
