Lovely engine- decent colour- why not stand out rather than have black/ blue? Although I love the super-rare white ones.

How you finding it speed wise in comparison to the rallye? Oddly I test drove one (when I had the rallye) and despite loving the car, engine and interior, didn't feel it moved the game on much more in terms of pace? (I am well aware of the power difference hence the surprise!).

Interested in your thoughts on the driving experience....

Damn I LOVE s2000's, I am jelous! Colours like marmite but I love it, really stands out and looks sports beats the generic silver or dark blue ones. I've always wanted one of these as my next car and the hard tops on look more manly in my opinion, not that I would complain about only having a soft top either.

Speedwise, out of VTEC, it is not too dissimilar to the Rallye. If that surprises you, take a look at the [well published, within this club at least] torque figures - they are very similar between the XU10J4RS and F20C. Obviously VTEC just takes it to another level and that part of the rev range is where the majority of the 237 horses are running Smile.

I think all aspects of the S2000 super-seed the Rallye apart from steering feel. Coming from the Rallye, the S2000 steering feels lighter [is this essentially hydraulic power steering VS electronic power steering? I have no idea...] But it is slightly too light for my liking and as such does not provide the same level of feedback that the Rallye did. Maybe the Rallye was just too good though...

The general ride is more harsh compared to the Rallye too, I suspect because you are sitting a lot lower and rolling on 17s too. I'm sure you know all about this from when you had the Lotus...

I agree that the S doesn't 'move the game on much more in terms of speed' if coming from the Rallye. I remember being neck and neck with a S2K when I had my Rallye until past 60ish where the S2000 showed its longer leg - he must not have been VTECing though... on paper, to 60mph we are looking at 6.2 VS 6.9-7.2.
I see it as a nice balance, you can get around town quite easily but you also know you can shift pretty quickly if you take advantage of of the whole rev range. The short throw gearchanges make it a pleasure to do this and whilst others may complain about having to really rev the engine to make moves, I enjoy it....!!
On the whole, the driving experience is a lot of fun, and of course the sensation of the power coming from the wider, rear tyres is pretty damn cool Cool.

I thought I much preferred the hard top too, until it came off yesterday Big grin.

As for the colour, love it. Has real good depth to it and being pearlescent, looks stunning when the sun is out shining Cool.

That's been thrashed to f*ck then LOL

Joking aside, it's definitely one of the later models then, apparently much better to drive than the early stuff.

May be worth getting it on a rolling road, see if it's one of those "suspiciously healthy" press cars with a free-er flowing engine

That was my first thought too!! Sad ...LOL.

As far as I know, it wasn't THE press car so only Evo got their hands on it. I hope.

I didn't realise press cars were configured to give that little extra oomph?

There are rumours, for example the first Focus RS chassis that came to the UK, the one on top gear, is rumoured to have been inadvertently fitted with a plate diff, hence why Clarky complained about the torque steer and why it put in a very fast lap.

Austin apparently ramped up the boost on the Maestro Turbo press cars to get the magazines salivating and a silly 0-60 time while Jaguar E types back at launch could do 150mph apparently, though only if it was a press car as they got D-Type Le Mans spec lumps

I reckon the car looks better with the soft top.

My Rallye was a press car and when I sold it had been thrashed for 140k miles! The engine never had a badge on it which I thought was strange. I'm sure press cars usually go through extra QC.

In the same way my Rallye appeared in the 2008 calendar for this forum , I'm hoping for similar results for the S2Ki club...

The pic above has been shortlisted for the calendar, votes are open, though according to the rules I'm not allowed to ask anyone to vote for me...

You know, I wouldn't normally like that colour on anything other than a Caterham/Westfield. But it really works well with the S2000. Lovely motor mate. Personally I prefer it with the hard top onSmile

Love the colour mate! Looks nice!

Family freind of mine has one, really strange to drive considering their RWD. The seating position felt very low and enclosed but in a good way.

Nice cars all in all, need to be revved tho.
