I believe you are supposed to fill from the side until it floods out. The top it meant to be a breatherSmile

BE3 boxes are filled from the side until it begins to run out else you could end up overfilling. The top I believe can be used as a level indicator using the dipstick.

I always filled mine from the top too even though I know you're supposed to fill it from the side. Surely it can't matter too much?

I fill mine from the top, and make sure I put the correct amount of oil in. (2.3L) No problems here!

haynes manual says to fill it from top until it leaks out the side hole...

good luck getting a dipstick down the breather hole Laugh my ass off

I always take the level plug off with the wheels on full lock left, and just fill through the breather, plastic tub on the ground under the level plug.

Do phase 1's have a 0.15 litre additional capacity? Phase 2 and 3's say 2.15 litres. I know oil amount is different in engine for air con models.

I reinsert mine up through the sump plug if this helps and when it pops out of the washer jets I know it's full so shut the sump plug.
