Where can I get a 5 or 6 speed dog-shift box for my 306 gti-6 to a OK price?

or

a strong 6 speed manual gearbox whit dif?

my 3 and 5 gear is broken. Got 240 HP (N/A tuned)

How much money are you will to spend? A sequential would be silly money. IIRC Pug sport sell 5 speed dog gear set. I'm not 100% on that thoLOL

You're going to SERIOUSLY dip into you pocket for something youre asking?

Perhaps a 6 speed BE box with shot peened or cryo-frozen internals might cut it? IT would be a damn sight cheaper too.

The reason why I am looking for a dog shift are because my gearbox is broken. It is fun to drive toSmile

If there is posible to get a strong 6 shift manual box whit a good dif to a much lower cost, I am up to itHappy

ps. Not sure about price yet, because I have not been able to do some resourch.

Thought it was more to do with shear forces.
Dog boxes are quite harsh on the change and knock the teeth hard.

I'll dig iut something i did ages ago in the Admin section about gearboxes for an FAQ i did to explain them all

Helical gears do have more surface area and that's why they can accept more load than straight cut gears. Yes

How much torque are you trying to put through it? There was also a thread on using ML gearboxes instead as they are stronger.

Dont think any need really for the gearbox, i was using a standard gearbox with kaaz diff with around 460ft/lbs and that was fine. Just my opinion

how often did you REALLY use that 460 lbs though? and when you did, I bet it was all wheelspin Laugh my ass off

Sadev do a box that'll do the trick, its about 18k with the bellhousing and driveshafts IIRC.

The sadev is 6k bare when we fitted in in james car he didnt have any change from 10k but after driving it its worth every penny!

is that on a 1600 engine? that is limited in how much torque it can take, even a standard 2.0 XU is close on that box, needs to be the next one up in the range Smile

The sadev dog box will only take 181 lbft, the bigger sequentials are better though and will take 250 lbft. The only FWD sequential I have found that will take a lot of torque is the Hewland EGT which will take 300 lbft. Thats

Thats the 6 speed st74 i think that we used in james its only 1400 so no a problem as stated its not ratted to 200lbft but steve at swr says hes sold them to people who are putting that through them with no problem but have to be taken care of and the shift cut set correctly. sadev do another model up it was around 2k more when i was looking at fitting it in mine.

I had a couple of Hewland HP 2000 a few years back and they were only rated to approx 300 nm off the top of my head. The problem is the fact they are FWD, the only FWD race cars tend to be 2.0 N/A engines, hence why the boxes are designed to cope with their kind of power/torque figures.
