Tiny tiny update, lost the love abit untill the gearbox is sorted which I payed for today. The lightened flywheel and clutch parts will be ordered soon.
So anyway I sprayed the front badge...

I'm loving the front end now!

If you wouldn't put chrome wheels on your car then why would you want chrome badges everywhere. Sticker is going dont worry about that.

£120 for oil?! are you flockign maaaaad Laugh my ass off

not as if its a BTCC engine, £25 for some total Quarts 7000 is all you need!

He didn't pay for it i did LOL

I'm sorry but after spending 3.5k building it i wasn't going to risk it over cheap oil!

But that oil cant be any better than Red Line or Amsoil etc they are as good an oil as you can buy- all those companies buy up the same basestocks. And you can get mobil 1 at Halfords for 38quid for 5 litres. I recently saw and SAE paper and they tested the oil and measured cam wear etc in a 350Z engine and found a widely available PAO based oil was the best and not the ester based everyone presumes is the best.

Nice.

Was just saying there is no point paying that for oil. If you want to pay 120 for what others pay 40, its up to you. I have found lots of useful information and help on this board, just thought i could give some back as have knowledge in that area. The paper i referred to was produced by Nissan- not the only oil approved for the GTR is mobil 1. You have no way of knowing whether the 120 pound oil is better than the 40 quid stuff.

After

Nice and clean(ish), it rained as soon as I washed it like it always does. But still looks good after the heavens opened up.

I'm not sure, too scared to try any other oil than Rich approves. And not too keen on White wheels on a china.

Been a while since I've wrote anything on this thread, it's been a few hectic and very expensive months. It all started with what I thought was a gearbox failure in the month I was off to Magaluf for two weeks. While I was going to change the gearbox I might as well get a new clutch cable and a lightened flywheel Big grin as for a LSD that will have to wait, as I also went to Berlin a month later. So one summers day in August me and Royston set about changing the gearbox and fitting the flywheel at his with Tom there also for most of the day.

Gearbox out

New flywheel. Shiny

Old vs New

Fitting

A bacon roll and lovely burger later as well as about 15 hours Shock we had changed the box over and fitted the flywheel. BUT... as the box came out we realised that it wasn't trashed, all that had happened was the quickshift had moved which meant it was fouling on the gearbox housing. Ah well sort of a waste of day and money but at least I had a nice shiny lightened flywheel courtesy of Rich-W and also still put the lower milage cleaner box in that I had bought. My bad...
The culprit:

Gearboxes

Would like to add a massive thanks to Royston for helping as a gearbox change was defiantly out if my mechanical skills range, nice to learn new stuff on cars as well so i should be able to change one myself now LOL
At about 12am we fired the car up with a horrible sound. Right we will leave that and see if it's to do with the car being jacked up all day :fingerscrossed got it home safely. Next couple of days the car got worse and eventually didn't start, Rich then realised I'd missed a locating dowel out of the starter. There should be 3, two for the box and one for the starter. Not to worry new starter motor and away we go. Still a small problem though, car struggled to start and was overheating. By this time I'd given up and let Rich and Nick sort this problem. It turned out to be a bad earth and corroded wires that stopped the coolant system working and the car starting. Ah well all in the fun of owning a 6. So a happy owner once again! While at Lynx I saw this little beast:

Thanks for reading this dribble Big grin

Was one attached to the gearbox and also he replaced the whole main earth cable coming off the battery. Rich said it was in the wrong place and there quite pacific of where the earth goes onto the gearbox Dunno
