over fuelling?

i normally get around 400miles to a full tank, abit of steady driving and the odd thrash.

I dont know what it is atm, but aslong as i dont thrash it, its pretty much the same or just a tad bit lower.

Somethings not right there mate

Should be looking at 300+ miles from a full tank in urban drivng and 360+ at motorway driving @ 70mph

A few factors have to be looked at though

  • when did you last have the car serviced?
  • any mods to the car?
  • [bullet]whats your driving style?

When was your lambda sensor last replaced?

These are consumable items and can be responsible for low mpg if they become faulty!

Definately get the Lambda checked, a faulty one can kill your cat (not your pet cat) and can cause that to get blocked, causing all kinds of trouble in your head...

I usually get about 300 before the petrol light comes on, no matter how I drive, I usually work it out to be 27ish mpg

    Would love to get 400!

I did 430 on a brimming tank the other week, only got 58 litres in it though on fill up.

I have put 66 litres in it before though, suspiciously after the AA towed my car without me with it that full tank only went to 270 miles before light.

The best i have managed is 420 miles from an absolutely brimming tank. Normally between 320 and 380 though to be fair. I would suggest your lambda needs checking bud! sooner rather than later before your cat gives up too!

Once you see the cat you'll see where the lambda is connected to it mate.

Surprised no body has mentioned this already but I would have thought to only be getting 100ish miles to ¾ of a tank I would be looking for fuel leaks.

The most common areas 306s tend to leak from is the 90 degree rubber hose at the bottom of the filler neck that connects it to the fuel tank.

The fuel filters some times leak if they aren't connected properly.

There are 2 connectors in the engine bay where the fuel lines come up from under the car then through these 2 connectors before going to the fuel rail, ones white the others green.
