Hi guys,

Just wondering if I am likely to need a new olive ring when I change my back box? The one in there is about 2 years old.

If I do need one, does anybody know where to buy these and what size I will need? I can't seem to find them on the internet anywhere. Perhaps if I asked kwik fit or some place similar they might sell them separately?

Nope... Its the ring that goes between the back box and mid section. It sits in the flared bit when the two ends are butted together. You can then clamp down hard on the two without crushing the pipe work.

There isn't a seal between the backbox and the centre section...or is there? I've never seen one!!?? They normally just butt up with a bit of paste to make a seal.

As above, these are not fitted to the standard system and Peugeot do not sell them.

Ahh that will be why I cannot find it on service box then Smile

Do you think I could get away with not needing one then? Could be hard to get hold of one by the sounds of it.

At the moment it is all standard. I will be putting a scorpion back box on and keeping the standard centre section.

Judging by the way mine gained some surface corrosion I would say the Scorpion ones are mild steel not stainless.

This was a few years ago now though...

stainless will still corrode, especially cheap grades used in heat cycled applications.

Yeah I know, but it wasn't light corrosion and the stainless flanges either side of it were still perfect.

That's strange, I contacted them via their website over xmas to get one of these and some clamps and they were very quick to reply.

I'll pm you the email address of the guy who replied to me. If anyone else wants it then just ask.

I should also warn you that their postage costs are fairly high so this may end up costing a fair bit more than you think. They guy told me they used to have a lot of people claiming they never received them so they now use next day recorded to save the hassle.
