Shes not feeling healthy again Roll eyes

Before i start, i've done the usual search and came up with same old answers, want to get a clearer idea from opinions first as with xmas looming money is hardly indispensible LOL

Bought a new ICV about 3k miles ago, however not a genuine one as i couldn't get one for a few days and needed it there and then. Now the car has started playing up again on idle, usually settling at 1,100 rpm, eventually !! Will rev itself anywhere up to 2,000 rpm and keep fluctuating in bewtween, sometimes dropping as low as 600 rpm Sad Although it doesn't stall itself and i don't have to blip the throttle to keep it running. I guess this points to the ICV as normal . . .

But, aswell as the above. When driving and letting off the throttle as i slow down theres a lot more popping and farting from the exhaust Crazy not sure if its related but it has only been noticeable since the idling went funny. Aaaaand, when changing down gears, and every now and again up gears, the engine and car seem to be lunging forwards and the changes are quite, if you like, jerky LOL . . . . strange symptoms i know but it just seems to be running like a bag of nails Dry

Could this be the ICV causing all this, i have read of the cheaper ones dieing prematurely, but 3k ? Blink

Was also thinking possibly the lambda sensor ? Hmm

Recently also changed top engine mount and gearbox mount (1k), CTS sensor (4k), had all exhaust checked and a hairline fracture on centre box welded (1k), and generally very well maintained LOL She is a tapper though, and has been for a year due to funds Dry but could this be getting worse and causing issues ?

Yours truly, one seriously p*ssed off french tin can owner, Tom

Oh yeah, new MAP sensor 3k ago !! Although i know the wires to it are sensitive, however i did snip them where they were fractured then crimped on mini spade connectors and insulated them individually again Ninja can't see it been that though ?

Also forgot the MPG, seemed OK at the weekend. Put

Think ive got a spare lambda kicking around, however not sure of its condition but worth a try then. Cheers for the offer aswell Thumbs up

Hi - see this thread too: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=115038&page=1

This sounds exactly like what I had from a pattern ICV, although mine did it from new Sad I had major idling issues, plus the "not quite right" running at higher speeds. I guess it is also possible that the misfire/popping is caused by it, as the airflow will probably be all wrong, but I thought the ICV only got used at idle, not normal running. Could be wrong here. All I know is putting the genuine one back on cured everything!

Stick a proper one on, and reset the ECU briefly (see the other thread). Not saying it won't be anything else as well, like Lambda or MAP, but the lambda is generally slow-feedback i.e. gets worse over time, not overnight! (Think this is right - willing to be shouted down though.)

One rule of thumb I have used for a long time - only change one thing at once. That way, you can generally know what has caused or cured a problem.

Hope you get it sorted.

Cheers guy's Thumbs up wasn't an overnight thing though tbh. Started about 2k after fitting, every now and again it'd fluctuate but then settle again shortly after. Got worse and worse and now its doing my tits in, making me look like I can't drive, when setting off its jerky as hell sometimes, and sat in traffic when it rev's to 2k constantly is just making me look like a chav LOL

Think ill bite the bullet and get a Magnetti Marelli one ordered tomorrow and see if it does the trick.
