Depends on the caliper, some of the bottom end Brembo's are worse than the cheaper Wilwoods, but at the top end there's no comparsion.

I know there's a lot of bo***cks talked about how much Wilwoods flex, etc, but it's mainly down to people not mounting them square, it's the same with any caliper.

Caliper stiffness is mainly a function of beam thickness and stress distribution, and there's only so many places you can bolt them together, the latest drop forged Wilwoods are very good for stress distribution, so until you get to the Monoblock or MMC Brembo's, the Wilwoods are better, there's very little in it between them on the seal stiffness and groove geometery, unlike when you step up to AP's, so there's not really much to split them there.

Are the Wilwoods I've got known to flex quite a lot? Or are they one of the better ones?

Better ones, big radii + drop forged.

right i know this has been covered before, but are the calipers worth the extra money? I mean wouldnt you be better off buying the actual discs and pads instead?

Yes you are better off with better pads and discs than spending extra on caliper with standard pads etc
