Hi think there is a C clip on the end of the tripod joint that you have to removed then tap the main body of the to removed. becareful not to hit the roller bearings. Thats how i got them off the toyota shafts at should be the same on all i think maybe different on pugs

All you need to do is give it a swift blow with a copper hammer.

pulled mine apart by mistake, the jubilee or pug clip just came off with ease and all the roller bearings fell out and i still have half of it stuck in the hub which simply won't come out! although i am doing it without feet on the brake as they're unbled

LOL

I did that with the brava the other day, wasn't fun hunting for needle rollers in the rain.

I'm actually doing this myself at the moment! Need to change a cv boot.

So a swift bang of a mallet will do! But what roller bearing are you people on about? Surely there is no rollere bearing in the cv joint?

Can the inner crive pop out of place easily?

theyre all getting confused there, there are only balls in the outer joint.

a swift thump to the spider will drive the joint off, there is a round wire clip in a groove inside the joint that stops it from simply sliding off.

you get a new clip in a GKN boot kit, but usually its fine to re-use the old one.

the inner tripod joint does come apart fairly easily from its cup so beware of that if you do it in situ.
