hi fellow members,i recently bought a phase 2 bianca white gti6 and the firstmod i put on was the 406 brembos which i had off a friend as he said they would fit.i bought some ferodo pads and grooved xantia v6 discs and the noise is ffffin unbearable. They squeal that much that i drive through town and EVERYBODY looks at me, it even hurts my ears with some music on.Could it be that i have the discs the wrong way round?? i.e grooves facing wrong way round. they are fitted with the top of the groove closer to the rear. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks alot, Craig |

damn, not what i wanted to read. was thinking of going for this upgrade myself!!From reading about it they do squeel unless you go for bells & rotors though I've never heard it personally so couldn't tell you if it's any worse than normal. Hope it is as I couldn't live with that either and too tight to go the whole hog with bells & rotors at the min! |

Shit, that's bad, no way could I handle that! Think I'll be saving my money for something else.Just be doing a bit more reading and come across this thread and it doesn't look promising for a squeel free brembo set-up on standard disks of any sort. |

That is normal for brembos, should of went for the wilwoods mate, a few of my mates have brembos an are really bad, but you just have to get used to it, think there is some combinations that arent as bad as others but on general when there dirty the squeal like f*ck, get ear plugs ha________________________________________ In my garage just now2003 BMW M3 & 2009 L200 Raging Bull & Audi Q5 S Line AX stock rod & Saxo Stock rod Sold the bike an charged rallye an bought a caravan, midlife crisis or what! |

only one of mine squeeled.i had pads with rubber backing on , i put copper grease only on one of them, i forgot to grease the other. and it squeels. you can stop the squeel 2 ways. 1. bells and rotas, 2. peugeot have anti squeel stuff that solves it i beleive carl has some. they used it for warranty claims for squeeling. carl will know what it is called. |

Rallydesign sell something called blugoo (or something like that) which is supposed to stop brake squeal ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. I have never understood how bells and rotors actually cures this? Surely its the larger/different discs used that help cure the sound ________________________________________ Just Drive It |

I thought the squeal was from the pads moving on the caliper surface when braking ? Or am I being a complete 'tard in saying that . . . ________________________________________ Cherry RALLYE |

Surely its the larger/different discs used that help cure the sound Its caused by harmonic waves setting up around the disc caused by the pads, changing to bells and rotors shifts the dynamic range and adds some damping across the disc due to the different wave speeds. You can also get a smaller resonance setting up in the pads themselves, which is where backing pads, etc, help. ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. I see, very technical So if there was another way to shift the dynamic range then sqealing could be stopped? Also some high peformance cars have 4 pots with big discs that dont squeal, have they somehow designed the issue out? ________________________________________ Just Drive It |

Also some high peformance cars have 4 pots with big discs that dont squeal, have they somehow designed the issue out? If you look at they're discs, they have a half-coin shaped slot machined into the inner surface where the vents are - that shifts the harmonic resonance frequency out of that caused by low-pressure braking - higher pressure exerts some damping so it's not so bad there - obviously it takes a lot of to work out where it needs to be/size/etc, for a particular car though, then make sure it breaks the wave at the right frequency. ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments.
