I'v got a slight creaking coming from the rear beam of my Xsara when I first get in it on cold mornings, goes away after 30 seconds of driving though. Is this likely to require a rear beam rebuild or could it be something less serious? I seem to recall my old one did it a bit over winter but then was fine over summer.________________________________________ Xsara VTS - Warm and dryHonda CBR600F3 - Cold and wet but...0-100 in 7 seconds Team "I had a TZR125™" |

Jack up the rear of the car and see if you have any movement in the beam. Doesn't sound promising though ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

That is what mine sounded like. It progresses to squeaking everywhere.________________________________________ 200+ secret squirrels hiding under the bonnet with 4 wide mouth frogs... |

Check this isn't the handbrake squeeking a bit if it's binding as you back off your drive |

The bearings are probably knackered mate! How old is your car now? Approaching ten years old? 80k plus miles? Start putting a bit of money away each month for a rebuild. The car will still be driveable for the time being. Mine got through an MOT and the bearings on the offside had been ground down into a smooth paste! ________________________________________ Team Peugeot Sport 308 GtiBlack T'99 Gti - may she rest in peace - written off in a shunt on the A329m |

Would this come up on the MOT? mine just went through fine, and the beam is knackered! Neg camber on both wheels, has been this way since the last mot (Yes getting it sorted in the new year lol) ________________________________________ Ex-Black 6 - Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... I get a creaking from the rear end of the car when the handbrake is on a bit and car starts moving. If I pull the handbrake up a bit more it stops. Is my beam fooked? ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Will more than likley be the rear pads rubbing on the disks if the handbreak isnt up far enough. Mine does the same, another click sorts it out. ________________________________________ EX Bianca 6 owner,Now drives: Octavia vRS |
